Do you want to help determine what we eat in the future and make sure it is safe? With a master's degree in Food Science, Technology, and Sustainability, you can contribute to ensuring safe food and creating sustainable solutions for an important industry.

The food industry is changing and has a great need for people with higher education and interdisciplinary expertise.

Please note that this program is taught in Norwegian.

The Master's program in Food Science, Technology, and Sustainability has students from various bachelor’s degrees. This means you will become part of an interdisciplinary student environment. Students have rated the study environment highly for several years.

This two-year program consists of

  • Eight compulsory courses
  • One elective course
  • One master's thesis worth 45 ECTS credits.

Each semester includes four courses. We use various teaching and assessment methods such as project work, group work, written and oral communication. Through the master's thesis, you will carry out in-depth research.

Students are admitted to this master's program based on a completed bachelor’s degree in technological or natural science fields. The program is also relevant for those who have been working for a while and wish to gain more formal qualifications.

If you meet the Norwegian language requirements, or have a related Scandinavian language as your mother tongue, you can apply to any of NTNU's degree programmes. You also must meet the basic requirement for admission, and demonstrate that you meet the English language requirements.

The application deadline for the programme is March 1st for students with an international degree, and April 15th for Norwegian and Nordic degree students. Students apply through NTNU søknadsweb.
