Master of Arts in Performing Music- Video applications

Here you will find information about how to record your audition programme on video, how the video must be, what you should remember and what you can expect after the video(es) is submitted:

Formalities:

  • Video(es) should have a total duration of 20 minutes with a varied repertoire.
  • Choose a repertoire that shows your in-depth studies plan in the best way.
  • For jazz instruments we will recommend that the recording is with a group.
  • For classical instruments: You are not required to use a pianist if the repertoire you submit normally would be performed with piano, but we will recommend you to use a pianist if possible on relevant music.

Requirements for submitting video(es)

  • Minimum and maximum ca. 20 minute duration
  • We do not expect you to play the whole programme in one take, but each piece must be recorded in one take and must not be edited. The recording cannot be older than 6 months.
  • We do not have quality requirements for the video recordings - you may use your smartphone if you wish. But it is in your own interest that the recording has good sound.
  • We do not want a video production. The video must show the applicant (with instrument), if possible in full figure.
  • The recording should primarily be for application purpose, but parts of the material may be recording of a concert or similar.

Submitting videoes:

  • Video(es) are to be submitted through YouTube, Vimeo or similar platforms. You may share one or several video-links.
  • Deadline for submitting the links for the video(es) is January 15.
  • The links must be open and available until July 1. They cannot be password protected.
  • The video(s) must be marked with the date(s) and venue(s) of recording.
  • You must submit a description of the video material.

Audition

Second round of the admission prosess will take place in Trondheim in week 9 (jazz) or 10 (classical).
The jury will ask you to demonstrate or play parts of your programme. The jury can comment on or ask questions about the submitted videoes, and the applicant can ask questions to the jury during the interview.

In cases where you (the applicant) have a very long way to travel to join us for an audition in person, please contact us and we’ll see if it is possible to let you do the second round also via digital participation.
