A PhD is the highest level of formal education in Norway.

A doctorate from NTNU qualifies you for leading work in many different areas, such as the private sector, public sector, higher education, cultural sector and research.

The majority of doctors from the PhD-programme in Artistic Research continue within academia as postdoctoral fellows, researchers and Associate Professors while being artists at a high international level. Others choose to continue with a career as freelancers within the arts.

A number of surveys over many years have shown that people with a doctoral degree have low unemployment and a high degree of work satisfaction.
