Background and activities

Charlie Fjellvær Thompson (b. 1996) is a PhD candidate at the department of sociology and political science (NTNU) within the sub-field of public policy and administration. Thompson's research interests are within political organization, public policy instruments, institutional change and modern governance arrangements focusing on welfare- and social policies, and the voluntary sector.

Thompson’s PhD project examines the institutional characteristics, regulation and political organization of the Norwegian governance system of gambling. Through a systematic study of dimensions such as the political pressure, administrative practices and international contexts, the project has diachronic and synchronic purposes. Thus, the foci of the doctoral project is capturing central aspects in development of governance arrangements and implications by the current governance system.
