Jørund Aasetre
Background and activities
Jørund Aasetre (PhD.) is an Associate Professor at NTNU with experience from teaching and doing research on nature management, as well as teaching social studies education with emphasis on geography for teachers.
Aasetre is associated with both Department of Teacher Education (70%) and Department of Geography (30%). At Geography he teach Environmental Geography, as well as co-ordinate their part of the international master program on nature resources management (MSNARM). At Department for Teacher Education he teaches geography related issues for primary and lover secondary teacher students.
As a researcher Aasetre has worked with several issues on nature management in Norway. Among other issues he has published peer reviewed papers on forest recreation and forest history. He has also worked on nature restoration, conservation management, large predators as well as Salomon fjords etc.
Aasetre also work on projects related to competence building in teacher education in Ethiopia and South Sudan (financed through NORHED programs). In addition, he does research on Environmental Education in cooperation with PhD candidates.
Aasetre tries to apply a Political Ecological framework in both his environmental as well as his educational research.
