About

Mohammad Sayeef Alam has a Master of Philosophy and also of Science in Biostatistics and Demography from International Institute for Population Sciences. He obtained his Bachelors in Statistics from Calcutta University. He is currently working towards his doctoral studies looking into celiac disease genetics under the mentorship of Eivind Ness Jensen, PhD, MD.

Sayeef is a statistician by practice with experience in data analytics consulting and advanced statistical methodologies in public health, genomics and health economics outcome research. He also has an experience working as an associate for a pharmaceutical consulting company.

Sayeef is a native of West Bengal, India. He likes to learn new languages apart from going on hikes, skiing, training and cooking.

Research

Sayeef is involved in interdisciplinary research and is currently focusing on statistical genetics of celiac disease. He also worked in public health, demography, epidemiology and health economics.

  • Celiac Disease Project

CeD Genetics

The project focuses on assessing the significant genetic variants associated with the disease, followed by the generation of polygenic risk scores and finally developing a robust prognostic model for the disease.

Publications

Understanding the spatial predictors of malnutrition among 0-2 years children in India using path analysis.

It is essential to design more specific interventions by focusing on the key determinants that may directly or indirectly influence malnutrition in India.

The effects of social media consumption among the internet users during COVID-19 lockdown in India: Results from an online survey

The present study thus aims to analyze the direct and indirect effects of extensive social media and social networking services' usage during the lockdown in India.

Thyroid Function Test in COVID-19 Patients: A Cross-Sectional Study in a Tertiary Care Hospital

The objective of this study was to assess thyroid function tests in hospitalized patients of COVID-19.
