Thomas Berg Fjellestad

About

Thomas Berg Fjellestad is the study programme leader and assistant professor for the Bachelor in Interaction Design at NTNU, and is also responsible for the Design Workshop at the Department of Design, located at Mustad in Gjøvik.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Technology Design and Management, with a focus on product development and physical design, and a Master’s degree in Interaction Design, specializing in digital solutions and user experience.

The Bachelor in Interaction Design at NTNU combines creativity and technology to develop user-friendly and sustainable digital products and services, with a strong focus on the human perspective.
As program director, he is responsible for ensuring that the bachelor program maintains high academic quality and remains relevant to industry needs. This includes continuous development of the learning environment, updating course content, and close collaboration with industry to provide students with the skills required for future digital solutions.

As an assistant professor he teaches and supervises in:

Prototyping (IDG1060) – development of digital prototypes, user testing, and iterative design processes
Design of Interactive Environments (IDG2750) – design for VR and AR (XR) with a focus on experiences and interaction
Service Design (IDG3002) – co-creation, insight work, and development of holistic services
Portfolio and Exhibition (IDG3016) – professional portfolio building and organizing the graduation exhibition
Bachelor Thesis (IDG3910) – supervision of larger, independent projects

In addition, he is responsible for the Design Workshop at Mustad, including operations, training, and maintenance. Feel free to get in touch if you have questions about the laser cutter, plotters (large-format printers), vinyl cutter, 3D printers, spray booth, or other equipment in the workshop.
