The Northern Archaeology and Heritage Exchange Network

This project is a collaboration between the archaeology and cultural heritage programs at NTNU and a group of partner institutions in Canada and the US.

The goal is to arrange internships for Norwegian MA students, giving them valuable practical experience from large institutions in Alaska and Western Canada. The aim is to increase mobility and internationalization of the MA programs at IHF and to simultaneously form new relationships for future collaborations & exchanges. Our long-term goal is to create new partnerships with other universities and institutions.

The internships last for between 8-10 weeks and take place during the fall semester.  MA students at the relevant programs at IHF can apply for internships during the spring. Internships are aligned with the ARK3004 and KULMI3080 courses. Successful applicants will receive a small scholarship and financial assistance for visa applications and insurance.

This INTERNABROAD project is financed by Diku – (Norwegian Agency for International Cooperation and Quality Enhancement in Higher Education). The project will run for 3 years.

The Dept. of Historical Sciences, Faculty of Humanities, NTNU, Trondheim runs the project together with our partners- Dept of Tourism and Culture, Yukon Government, Whitehorse, Yukon (CAN), Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre, Government of Northwest Territories, Yellowknife (CAN) Museum of the North, University of Alaska, Fairbanks, Alaska (US) and Smithsonian - Arctic Studies Center, Anchorage, Alaska (US).

Please contact Martin Callanan at IHF for more information about the exchange network. Especially if you are interested in hosting or sending students.
