The KARMA tools can be used to create knowledge about local conditions and help generate insights and understandings that can form the basis for measures and follow-up within the academic community. 

To further help direct the focus of the mapping process, here are some focus areas where mechanisms of inclusion/exclusion can occur and be observed in the working environment. Codes of conduct is a tool that can be used, while the rest are topics that can be included in action plans or be relevant to  codes of conduct.
