RP-3.4 Climate change and ecological flows

Climate change and ecological flows
The project RP-3.4 aims to develop a win-win toolkit that balances hydropower production and environmental needs for ecological flow under changing inflow conditions.
A virtual environment (TwinLab) will be tested using synthetic data, addressing modifications identified in previous RP3 tasks.
Additionally, strategies will be developed to optimize the system under future climate scenarios, transitioning from static flow releases to dynamic, demand-based minimum flow agreements. This involves analyzing environmental responses across habitat trajectories (past, present, and future) and adapting optimizations using environmental data to ensure system flexibility under climate change.
The approach combines hydropower, hydraulic, and environmental models to achieve sustainable outcomes.
