Artificial spin ice
Artificial spin ice (ASI) consists of large numbers of nanomagnets arranged in a 2D lattice. Local interactions between the magnets results in a range of complex collective behavior.
Dynamics of artificial spin ice
The videos below show the dynamics of 4x4 square artificial spin ice when subject to an oscillating external magnetic field. By varying the frequency and amplitude of the external field, different dynamic behavior is obtained.
