Music has played an important part at all times and in all cultures. In our globalized age we encounter a larger musical diversity than ever before. The scale and significance, both in the life of the individual and in the larger social and cultural relations, has increased with the evolution of media and society.

Musicology asks questions about why music is as it is, about how it can be described and how knowledge about it can be passed on to others. To approach the answers to such questions, the one-year programme offers courses in music history and analysis, aural training and improvisation, exercises in creating music, music technology and the possibility to further develop your own instrumental skills.

The programme is taught in Norwegian.
