About the course
Course content
Central themes are wooden architecture, site analysis, form, space, the properties of wooden materials, chemical and mechanical protection of wooden materials, static priciples of timber structures and their influence on the architectural expression.
Learning outcome
The course gives the students knowledge in wood as a building material and the structural function of traditional and modern timber joints.
Students develop skills in the use of this knowledge in architectural design.
General knowledge is developed through the study of precedents.
Learning methods and activities
The course gives the student knowledge through seminars and workshops. An excursion is a part of the course. Evaluation is based on a essay.
Compulsory assignments
- Meet precise and attend at 8th of 9 seminars
- Presentation in seminar group 1.
- Presentation in seminar group 2.
- Confirm read literature with a signed literature list
