Course content
The course gives a genral introduction to evolution, ecology and behavior. Understanding evolution and natural selection is a common ground for discussions of ecological and behavourial phenomena. Central concepts are variation, adaptations and speciation. De fundamental ecological processes at population, community and ecosystem levels are emphasized. At individual level are the behavoural adatations and mechanisms central. The students will know the ecological processes and how they influence the distribution of plants and animals. As a group based project, the students are given a subject to work with during the course period.

Kunnskaper:
After the course the candidate shall have:
the basic knowledge about evolution, ecology and behavior ecology
a good understanding of avolution and natural selection as the base for ecological and behavioral phenomenons.
basic knowledge about biodiversity and conservation biology

The candidate can:
find information and facts within the subject
use and communicate knowledge both in written and oral form through the production of a poster and an oral presentation
understand the basic concepts and methods within the subject

The candidate:
understand the subject and its role in the society
can plan, communicate and exchange facts and ideas also to the rest of the society

1. Final examination in each semester -for courses with prefix BI, IT and KJ a final examination is held during the examination period every semester.
2. New assessment incase of fail - please refer to the course description for details on which components of the course need to be retaken in case of re-assessment.
The written exam can be changed to an oral exam in the semester when the course is not taught.
