Course content

The course consists of an individual theoretical syllabus in connection with the master degree. Syllabus is defined by the student in co-operation with his/her supervisor, and should be approved by the Department of Biology. The syllabus is not to be a central part of the thesis, but rather be of a broader character. It should give a broader scientific understanding, and preferably be of newer date. Reports can only be used exceptionally. Literature used as syllabus in subjects of lower degree will not be approved.

Oral presentation of max. 30 min. Questions related to the presentation and syllabus usually have a duration of 30-60 min.

The exam will be conducted upon agreement but preferably within the ordinary exam period during either spring or fall semester.

Course materials

The curriculum is determined in cooperation with the supervisor of your master thesis. The chosen litterature has to be applied for approval and must follow the guidelines described in the application form: Application Form Special Syllabus

The application should be submitted to the study consultants at the Department of Biology: studier@bio.ntnu.no a few weeks prior to the exam for approval.
