Course content

The course is adapted to the individual student's needs and his/her master’s thesis. In the fall semester, the course will normally be constructed on basis of various theoretical topics offered in conjunction to the depth study courses in the technology programme.

Learning outcome

Insight into advanced research in various areas of informatics.

Learning methods and activities

Lectures, colloquia, presentations etc. depending on the actual content of the course.
The autumn version of the course is organized as combination of two electable topics with separate teaching. Some topics will have oral exams and others will have graded assignments. In the Spring semester the course is based on selfstudy on an assigned curriculum with oral exam.

Further on evaluation

Students have to pass both teorethical modules in order to pass the course. Retake of the exam for one or both modules that fail. Retake of the course will require new participation/deliverables in all activities.

Admission to a programme of study is required:
Informatics (MIT)
Informatics (MSIT)
Natural Science with Teacher Education (MLREAL)

Required previous knowledge

The course is only available to students admitted into the Master of Science programme in informatics, and to exchange students upon request and by instructor's conscent.
