  • Material properties as a function of manufacturing and internal structure

Learning outcome

The candidate knows the materials inner properties and structure and production methods and how the production affects the material properties. The candidate is familiar with different testing and inspection methods of properties for common construction materials. The candidate has knowledge about material science historical development and environmental impact of material choice in the design. The candidate is able to make an appropriated choice of the materials in the design based on form, strength, production methods and environmental footprint.

Allowed help at the exam is Tekniske tabeller (red. av Jarle Johannessen), verkstedhåndboka for mekaniske fag and calculator according ntnu-code C. Resit exam may be held orally if the lecturer decides that it is more appropriate.
