Course content

The subject builds upon the contains of Instrument and Performing C, or equivalent. Individual lessons in main instrument with emphasis on independent work. The student will study and work with a large and varied repertoire.

Performative analysis is included in separate forums for students taking MUSP4180 and MUSP4181.

The subject emphasizes concert training, and the student must participate with solo or chamber musical repertoire in at least two concerts during the academic year. At least one of the concerts must be part of Department of Music's own concerts. The concerts are to be documented and approved in the semester reports. The student will also initiate and carry out a separate independent concert project and document this through a written reflective project report.

  • has knowledge of the main line of her/his repertoire, and has rehearsed considerable amounts of this repertoire
  • has knowledge about and experience in practical issues around performance practicalities
  • can analyze music from a performing musician's point of view

Learning methods and activities

  • Main instrument individual lessons for 25 weeks
  • Accompanying lessons for relevant instruments 60 minutes per week for 25 weeks
  • Concert forum 2 hours per week in up to 20 weeks, including performative analysis
  • Ensemble 2 hours per week in 10 weeks. Except for organ.
  • Projects, various lessons

The recourse in ensemble and concert forum might be redistributed

Compulsory assignments

  • Satisfactory participation in compulsory

Further on evaluation

Repertoire list for all four years of study (appr 360 minutes all together) and examination concert program must be submitted for teacher approval medio April. Practical exam: About 60-70 minutes of effective playing, depending on the instrument. All mandatory activities must be approved before the student can be examined.
