Course content
How do social anthropologists observe, describe, compare and interpret society and culture? Through practical exercises in fieldwork techniques and interpretative methods, you will acquire basic skills in anthropological methods, and in research ethics.
Learning outcome
Upon completing this course, you have developed knowledge about methods of ethnographic observation and description, comparative methods, and qualitative interpretative methods. You have gained some basic skills to collect and interpret empirical material. You should also be able to narrate field experiences through different media.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures, seminars and practical exercises in fieldwork techniques, such as observations, interviews, and audio-visual recordings.
Some of the lectures may be given in English.
