About the course

Course content

This course is designed for teachers and other individuals working within the school system, and is based on participants' professional experience. Examining the impact of artificial intelligence on subject knowledge, teaching and assessment, it provides insight into AI literacy in a school context. Participants will develop the ability to critically evaluate the quality and relevance of AI-generated content and make informed decisions about when and how to integrate AI into teaching and assessment practices. The course encourages reflection on the pedagogical, ethical and societal implications of AI in education and contributes to the development of professional digital competence.

Learning outcome

Knowledge

The student:

  • understands how artificial intelligence (AI) influences approaches to, and the development of, subject knowledge.
  • understands the concept of AI literacy and its significance in a school context.

Skills

The student can:

  • can critically assess the quality and relevance of AI-generated content.
  • can make academically justified decisions about when and how to integrate AI into teaching and assessment.

General competence

The student:

  • can analyse their own and others' practical experiences as a basis for critical reflection on AI in schools.
  • can reflect on and discuss the pedagogical, ethical and societal consequences of using AI in education.

Learning methods and activities

The course is organised as a blended, session-based programme consisting of one two-day on-campus session and two half-day digital sessions. These sessions include a combination of lectures, seminars and group work. Between sessions, participants engage in online dialogue and work on assignments related to their professional practice. The course includes compulsory coursework requirements and concludes with an examination each semester. All communication and dissemination of course content and learning activities takes place via NTNU’s digital learning platform. Participation in the sessions is mandatory.

Sluttvurdering består av en refleksjonsvideo (10-12 minutter) ut fra selvvalgt problemstilling, basert på innhold og pensum i emnet, som leveres i Inspera.

Obligatoriske arbeidskrav må være godkjent før studenten kan framstille seg for sluttvurdering i emnet.
