Course content
Development of E6-east in Trondheim is used as an example to to gain insight in how a large project is planned, orgainised and executed. Lectures will be given on central aspect of the project and the students will work with selected problems.
Focus areas will be:
- Quality assurance of large projects with respect to relevance, feasability and sustainability in a bearing capacity perspective.
- Planning of road project illustrated by using the planning tool NovaPoint.
- Organisation and managment of large projects.
- Life Cycle Analyses illustrated by optimisation of asphalt type tested in the laboratory.
- Land utilization, generation of traffic, traffic safety and challanges in urban areas.
Learning outcome
The course will give the students an overview of how large construction projects are planned, developed and how the quality assurance are perfored from idea through construction and operation phase. Knowledge about how projects are justified from economic, social and environmental impact throughout their lifetime is emphasized.
Central aspects will be illustrated through exampels from a real ongoing road project. The students will learn to use modern tools for planning and design of a road project.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures, laboratory exercises, written exercises, project team work. If there is a re-sit examination, the examination form may be changed from written to oral.
