Master in Sustainable Manufacturing

Student life

As a student at NTNU in Gjøvik you become part of a vibrant and active study environment. While studying it’s important that you thrive socially as well as academically. At Gjøvik, it’s easy to get to know people, even across study fields, and you get in close contact with lecturers and research communities.

Teaching methods

Lectures, group work, seminars and practical training in laboratories are used as teaching methods. The teaching methods are based on blended learning with a combination of on-campus teaching as well as flexible learning methods through digital tools. Some of the seminars have mandatory attendance.

You get to experience, learn and carry out tasks in virtual- and physical laboratories like Manulab.

Cooperation with the industry

Through the close industry connection in this master’s degree programme, you can contribute to strengthen and develop the industry locally, nationally or globally. The industrial companies we cooperate with provide challenges that you as a student can work on in a problem-based approach to learning.

The close connection to the industry will enhance your understanding of the challenges the manufacturing industry are facing.

Campus Gjøvik

The NTNU Gjøvik campus consists of several buildings in an open environment, easily reachable by foot from the city centre. The teaching takes place in modern lecture halls, computer labs and rooms for smaller group activities.

The G-building is the hub for all campus activities. Here you will find the library, bookshop, the Student Welfare Association, the Student Centre, and of course the cafeteria.

The great atrium in the A-building is also a central place to gather. Generally, you can meet up with fellow students and work on group projects or use it as a reading room, but it is also a nice place for greater events, celebrations, exhibitions and guest lectures.

The introduction week

As a student in Gjøvik you’ll have a lot of fun, and we are proud to offer a good and versatile social environment.

In your first semester, you will be a part of “Fadderuka”. This is a week full of activities meant to help you get settled in a new city and a new way of life. It doesn’t matter if you don’t know anyone. Experienced students are mentors and buddies. They will guide you around campus and the city, and help you get to know your fellow students.

Leisure time

At Gjøvik you can find leisure and activity groups for everyone. If you are up for it, you have a lot of possibilities. Whether you like American football, journalism, brewing beer, watching films or whatever it may be, you are bound to meet someone like-minded.

“HUSET” is the name of the students own meeting place at Gjøvik. Here you’ll find a pub/café and a concert scene. “HUSET” is run by volunteering students, and they offer a variation of events, from quiz and bingo to theme parties and great concerts.

Student organizations

The student organizations are managed by enthusiastic students who work hard to offer you both social and academically interesting events throughout the year. Building a bridge between education and professions is important, and that is the reason why the student organizations organize career recruitment events every year. Here a number of companies and employers present themselves hoping to attract competent future employees.
