Transport to Trondheim and the conference venue

There are excellent communications to Trondheim. It is possible to fly to Trondheim International Airport (Værnes), and it is also possible to reach Trondheim by train from the capital Oslo, or from Bodø, by boat, and by car. There are many daily direct flights to/from Amsterdam, Copenhagen, and Stockholm. There are several daily flights from Oslo to Trondheim; only a 50 minutes flight away from many European and intercontinental connections.

Trondheim city centre is located 30 km from the airport. To get from Værnes Airport we can recommend the train, bus or pre-ordered taxi.

Conference venue

The WRAB conference is usually hosted at a university campus - making it possible to feel the atmosphere and getting the opportunity to mingle with students during breaks. NTNU prioritise their students and their lecture facilities. Therefore, it is not possible to use the university’s campuses as a venue. The consequences had been to move the students and cancel a huge number of lectures. Another aspect that we stress, is that it is fruitful to meet other participants in the breaks. To be able to do so, we need a large area.

We have chosen the venue Clarion Hotel and Congress Trondheim. This is a congress hotel situated quite close to the city centre. With the pedestrian bridge ”Sjøgangen” from the end of Søndre street across to the hotel, you can walk to, what is considered as, the middle of the city centre, in approx. 10 minutes. If other transportation is more preferable you can take the bus or a taxi to the city centre. There is two different bus stops almost just outside the hotel. Through the local bus company’s app, AtB (pronounced A to B), bus ticket cost 42 NOK (approx. 4 $), the bus ticket can be used as many times you want within 1,5 hours.

The venue is situated at the seaside, with a lovely view. Close by the venue you can find a food store, a popular music museum, a very facilitated gym and the largest indoor swimming pool in Norway. The area is a communication hub for trains, buses, cruise ships and speedboats.

Clarion Hotel and Congress Trondheim is one of the largest of its kind in Norway - innovative in architecture, interior and an energy class building A. The hotel opened April 27, 2012. The entire conference hall is 1400 m2 and the space outside the hall, the largest in Trondheim; used for exhibitions, lunch and small talk between participants is 1030 m2.
