Musicology and Professional Practices
Musicology and Professional Practices was a conference held at Dokkhuset in Trondheim on 26 October 2012, marking the 50th anniversary of Musicology in Trondheim.
The conference Musicology and Professional Practises was a arranged by the Department of Music at NTNU (the Norwegian University of Science and Technology) in Trondheim.
The conference highlighted the relationship between the competence that is achieved through a musicological education and ways of applying such competence. In other words, we wanted to focus on the applications of musicology, not least so that we may contribute to a growing awareness of the kinds of employment for which a musicological education is a useful qualification.
We invited outstanding representatives of different music-related professions, who all have in common a musicological background. All of our invited guests was asked to reply to the following question: How can musicology be used within my profession, and how is it being used?
