Have you considered upgrading your battery knowledge in a few weeks, completing a short lecture and quiz when it suits your schedule? Three people shared their experiences with Greenectra courses.

Amongst the partners in FME BATTERY, is a company providing digital courses on batteries: Greenectra. After attending some of their courses, selected members of the FME BATTERY family shared their experiences.

- These attendees are experienced battery researchers at NTNU with expertise in specific domains of the battery value chain. The PhDs and PostDocs all find the courses having meaningful content as well as being suited for those not as far in depth as they are.  says prof. Odne Burheim, who is also Deputy Director and Head of Research Based Education at FME BATTERY.

Burheim points out that the courses are flexible and compatible with a hectic work life.

- Explained in a clear and compact way

Belfun Arslan stated that the learning process was enjoyable:

- Before starting the course, I did not expect that such detailed information could be explained in such a clear and compact way. The course provided a large amount of information in a very accessible format, almost like knowledge capsules, she added.

- Because of this, the learning process was a lot more enjoyable than I expected, said Arslan.

- Bridges theory and the real world

Sina Orangi explains that he found the combination between theory and practical application valuable:

- I appreciate how the course connected the technical with practical consideration. The battery expert interviews equipped in the course, make a bridge between theory and the real world.

When asked if he had any advice on fitting the courses in with a busy schedule, he said:

-  In theory, you can spend two full days on the course. I would recommend to spend 20 minutes each day to think in between. Some times you need to repeat the videos and answer the questiones to pass. I wanted to get more insight and process the content in between the videoes, and passed it in one month.

- Useful even for people without a strong battery background

- I would recommend this course to students, researchers, engineers and professionals who are new to batteries or who work in areas connected to energy storage, said Piiter.

- It is useful even for people without a strong battery background because it explains the main concepts in a practical and understandable way.

She said she gained a clearer understanding of how lithium-ion batteries work, how they are tested, why they age, and what can create safety risks.

- I also learned how to think more critically about battery performance data instead of only looking at simple values such as capacity or voltage, said Piiter.

The competence element at FME BATTERY

As a member of FME BATTERY, Greenectra occasionally offer professional courses on batteries at a reduced price.

- The courses aims to strengthen the teams within companies as well as within FME BATTERY, says Burheim.

He explains that the FME has much to offer in terms of new knowledge based on the centre’s research activities. The courses offered by Greenectra can make such knowledge adoption easier, they are broadly oriented and can help experts of different fields to understand each other faster.

- We at the core management group are very happy to see Greenectra contributing to such conforming competence building, says Burheim.
