Known to many FME BATTERY partners as a member of the centre management, Professor Anders Hammer Strømman of NTNU has been appointed Coordinating Lead Author (CLA) for the transport chapter in the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s (IPCC) next major assessment report. 

This prestigious role places him among the world’s foremost experts tasked with synthesizing global knowledge on climate mitigation. As one of two CLAs for the chapter “Transport and mobility services and systems,” Strømman will lead efforts to evaluate technologies, fuels, and systems for cars, ships, and aircraft, as well as equitable access to mobility and strategies to reduce transport demand. The work will inform policymakers on the pathways available to reduce emissions in the transport sector, without prescribing specific solutions.

The upcoming report, expected between 2028–2029, will be instrumental in shaping climate policy for years to come.
