Adapted physical activity/physical exercise for students with disabilities – Research – Department of Teacher Education
Implementation of competence on adapted physical activity/physical exercise for students with disabilities
There is a gap between Paraidrettssenterets’ intention to reach out with the dissemination of competence and what is actually implemented in schools. The goal of this project is to develop the schools' collaboration with the Paraidrettssenteret in Trondheim (PIT) to increase competence on adapted activity for people with disabilities. In addition, the project will contribute to ensure that competence on adapted activity/physical exercise for students with disabilities reaches schools, teachers, pupils and guardians.

About the project
There is a gap between Paraidrettssenterets’ intention to reach out with the dissemination of competence and what is actually implemented in schools. The goal of this project is to develop the schools' collaboration with the Paraidrettssenter in Trondheim (PIT) to increase competence on adapted activity for people with disabilities. In addition, the project will contribute to ensuring that competence on adapted activity/physical exercise for students with disabilities reaches schools, teachers, pupils and guardians.
There is a need to investigate the following questions:
- how the information from PIT is received and processed by schools
- how information and guidance from the PIT is followed up by the school system
- how teachers/other employees in the school system acquire the competence and knowledge they gain from PIT, and to what extent do they use some of this competence in their daily practice with pupils
- to what extent does the information provided to schools reach parents
