Project and master theses text

Students interested in computational design, structural engineering, and emerging digital technologies in the built environment are encouraged to write their Master’s thesis with the Conceptual Structural Design Group (CSDG). Our research focuses on the development of new methods and tools for conceptual structural design, including parametric modelling, algorithm-aided design, finite element analysis, artificial intelligence, and digital fabrication.

Master’s thesis projects are often carried out in close collaboration with researchers and students from the Department of Architecture and Design and the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, enabling interdisciplinary projects that combine structural engineering, architecture, computational design, and digital workflows. Several thesis projects also involve digital fabrication and experimental prototyping, where computational models are translated into physical structures.

Below you can find a selection of Master’s theses completed within the CSDG group, illustrating the range of topics and research directions explored by our students.

Project and master theses will only be announced on the Norwegian page.
