Housing for exchange students

Use the link above to apply for housing. Remember to state that you are an exchange student in the application. Most exchange students stay at Sørnesvågen village, which is about a 5-minute walk from campus.

Exchange students from partner universities are normally given priority on student housing. However, we cannot guarantee accommodation in the cheapest or preferred category.

Housing for master's degree students

International students doing a full degree at NTNU in Ålesund are not guaranteed student housing. If you have applied for housing through Sit Ålesund, you will be notified of the outcome of your housing application in June. Once you have received this offer, you can apply for a student visa. As long as you apply for a visa by 1 July, the Norwegian Immigration Department guarantees to process your application in time for semester start (15 August 2016).

Private housing

Students that are not allocated student housing from Sit Ålesund will have to find private accommodation. These websites are a useful starting point (in Norwegian):

  • Finn.no
  • Hybel.no
