Register with Immigration

If you are EU/EEA you do not need a work permit and you can start working right away, but you must register no later than 3 months after your arrival in Norway.
Non EU/EEA NTNU employees that plan to work physically in Norway for more than 90 days need to apply for a work permit and register within 7 days of their arrival in Norway at the Service Centre for Foreign Workers (SUA) or Police station depending on what is available in the city you live in. That also applies to guest researchers and researchers with own funds that will stay in Norway for more than 3 months. You should always select SUA office if you have several options. Make an appointment online to register.
