Housing for international researchers and PhDs in Trondheim

Housing for international researchers and PhDs in Trondheim

Here's how the process works:

  1. Fill in the application at the application gateway. This form will also give you access to housing from Boligstiftelsen NTNU and SINTEF and discounted housing service from Utleiemegleren AS. We recommend you to submit the application well in advance. NTNU has accommodation in Trondheim only. For Gjøvik and Ålesund, please contact your department.
  2. The application goes to your department or faculty for verification.
  3. NTNU's Boligformidling will process the application, which can take up to 4 weeks.
  4. The prices for NTNU apartments are not subsidized, so it is not cheaper to rent from NTNU compared with the private market. However, the advantage with NTNU apartments is that they are also rented for short periods of time and the rent contract can be terminated by the customer on a 7 day notice. If you need to rent accomodation on the private marked for for less than 1 year then it it is important to check if you can terminate the contract before 1 year has passed.
  5. Information about housing - booklet (pdf 860 kb)

Private housing searches:

  • www.finn.no (in Norwegian)
  • For short time renting please check Bjørvika apartments
