Housing for international researchers and PhDs in Trondheim

Housing for international researchers and PhDs in Trondheim

Here's how the process works:

  1. Complete the application at the application gateway. This form will grant you access to housing from NTNU Housing, Boligstiftelsen NTNU and SINTEF, as well as housing services from Utleiemegleren. We recommend submitting the application well in advance. NTNU offers accommodation only in Trondheim. For housing in Gjøvik and Ålesund, please contact your department.

  2. The application goes to your department or faculty for verification.

  3. NTNU's Boligformidling will process the application, which can take up to 4 weeks.

  4. The prices for NTNU apartments are not subsidized, so renting from NTNU is not cheaper than renting in the private market. However, NTNU apartments offer the advantage of short-term rentals, ranging from 1 to 12 months. Additionally, the tenancy contract can be terminated by the tenant with 30 days' notice. If you need to rent accommodation in the private market for less than a year, make sure to confirm with the landlord whether short-term rentals (under a year) are acceptable.
