Para Athletes

The primary objective of SenTIF’s research in Paralympic sports is to contribute knowledge that enhances the understanding of performance demands, training processes, and classification. This knowledge aims to help Norwegian athletes improve training quality and optimize their preparation and execution in competitions. Furthermore, there is an urgent need for high-quality research in para sports in general, and SenTIF strives to be a leading contributor to the global advancement of performance in para athletics.

In the upcoming period, our main goals are:

  • To develop applied knowledge about performance demands in para sports and their implications for training and competition preparation.
  • To develop applied knowledge about classification and its impact on performance.
  • To develop applied knowledge about training, training response, training quality, and recovery in the long-term development of para athletes.
  • To contribute to Olympiatoppen and the Norwegian Olympic and Paralympic Committee’s Para Competence Bank, as well as to the implementation of para sport knowledge within individual sports federations.

Paralympic research at SenTIF is coordinated by researcher Cecilia Severin.
