Learning Technology and Analytics
About
About the course
Course content
The course is a combination of lectures and project work. The lectures will support the progress of the project, the project has different deliverables and is done in teams. Each team has to work with a learning system, put it into practice, collect empirical data and analyze them. Groupwise final presentation of the system and the collected learning analytics. The students will have to submit the group deliverables (mandatory) and the group project (counting 100% of the final evaluation) to pass the course.
Learning outcome
The course gives fundamental knowledge of learning systems and learning analytics. In particular, on completion of the course, students will be able to:
- Understand the design and development of contemporary learning systems.
- Explain how a technology feature influences learning processes.
- Evaluate the effect of a learning system through learner-generated data (i.e., learning analytics).
- Elaborate a study that assesses the effectiveness and efficiency of a learning technology given the target audience and expected learning outcomes.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures and a project. Each team has to submit project deliverables during the semester and a final report.
The course will be held in English.
Compulsory assignments
- Leveransen
Further on evaluation
The report from the project is the basis for the grade in the course. The students also have to submit the mandatory deliverables (compulsory assignment) throughout the semester.
All students in the group will normally receive the same grade based on the group assignment. In special cases where a student has not contributed sufficiently, a student may be given individual grades based on documented lack of effort and/or workload.
In the event of voluntary repetition, fail (F) or valid absence, all course-activities must be retaken in a semester with teaching. Evaluations are only held in semesters with teaching.
