About the course

Course content

The graduate thesis is in the traditional form of a scientific dissertation. The dissertation will give the students practical experience in research methodology, independent critical thought and discussion and the drawing of scientific conclusions on the basis of empirical research. Purely theoretical works will also be approved.

Learning outcome

Knowledge:

  • The student has knowledge and practical experience in planning and implementing a scientific dissertation/thesis in collaboration with the supervisor.
  • The student knows the formal guidelines for the graduate thesis and the evaluation criteria for the thesis.

Skills:

  • The student can, with some instruction, independently conduct a scientific investigation
  • The student can draw up an exact and clear problem description with relevance to psychological theory and practice.
  • The student can present a well-considered selection for the choice and use of method and literature. The student can present a selection of relevant literature for covering the problem description.
  • The student is able to critical thinking and discussion, and to draw scientific inference to the basis of empirical or theoretical research.
  • The student knows APA standard for scientific publishing.

General competence:

  • The student has practical experience in research methods, critical thinking and discussion.

Further on evaluation

If the Thesis is evaluated as F it is possible to submit a new or a significantly revised Thesis one more time.Student is not allowed to submit a new Thesis within the same study programme, when one has received a passing grade
