This two-year international master's programme combines deep biotechnological insight with practical food science to support the green transition and strengthen food preparedness. In this programme, all students will learn:

  • Advanced knowledge of biological and food systems, from the molecular level to whole organisms and industrial processes

  • Practical skills in core disciplines such as molecular and cell biology, microbiology, and biochemistry

  • How to utilize bioresources responsibly and contribute to a circular bioeconomy

  • Relevant analytical methods, statistical models, and digital tools, including programming for data processing

  • How to identify, formulate, and analyse complex, multidisciplinary ("wicked") problems within biotechnology or food science

  • How to plan, carry out, and communicate an independent research project under supervision

Depending on your chosen track, you will also specialize in either:

  • Biotechnology — the relationships between the structure and function of biomolecules, cellular metabolism, molecular genetics, and protein biosynthesis, and how to apply this knowledge to analyse and manipulate biological systems

  • Food Science — sustainable resource utilization and the process technologies that support food safety and preparedness, and how raw materials, the cold chain, and processing choices affect product quality and shelf life
