Gain real-world experiene as part of your Master's degree
The internship course (15 ECTS) gives Master's students the opportunity to apply their academic knowledge in a professional setting while working on real projects in an organisation. Throughout the semester, you will gain relevant work experience, develop professional skills, expand your network, and receive academic support through supervision and seminars. The department collaborates with both Norwegian and international organisations, including organisations where English is the working language.

The workload corresponds to approximately two working days per week on average, but the hours can be distributed flexibly throughout the semester in agreement with the internship company. This allows the internship to be adapted to classes, exams, and other academic commitments.

How does the application process work?
The internship scheme is coordinated by the department in collaboration with partner organisations. Throughout the recruitment process, students receive support and valuable experience in preparing applications, presenting their competencies and participating in interviews.

Students apply by submitting a CV and a short motivation letter. The department coordinates the recruitment process and supports both students and internship organisations throughout the semester.
Important information
Internship framework
- The internship is available to students enrolled in the participating Master's programmes.
- Internship placements are offered exclusively through the department's partner organisations. Students cannot arrange an internship independently.
- The internship is unpaid and awards 15 ECTS credits.
- The internship must take place in a new learning environment and cannot be combined with an existing paid position or carried out within the same department where you already work.
- If you wish to complete your internship with your current employer, the internship must take place in a different department, involve substantially new tasks, and the position must be advertised through the internship scheme.
What is expected of you?
As an internship student, you are expected to:
- Participate actively throughout the internship period.
- Take responsibility for your learning and assigned tasks.
- Act professionally in the workplace.
- Follow the organisation's routines and guidelines.
- Treat confidential information responsibly.
- Communicate with both the host organisation and the department if challenges arise during the internship.

Assessment
The internship course is assessed on a Pass/Fail basis through portfolio assessment.
