Background and activities

I am Professor at Department of Physics, NTNU. I obtained my PhD from the University of Oslo in 2012 with research carried out at the Norwegian Radium Hospital.

Research activities include quantitative and functional cancer imaging (positron emission tomography (PET) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)) in both experimental models and patients. We are using functional imaging to map the radiation sensitivity in tumours to quantitatively assess features of the tumor microenvironment such as tumour oxygenation and vascular function. Within radiotherapy, we aim to improve the use of advanced imaging in radiation dose delivery and integrate PET and MRI information in modelling both tumour response and normal tissue toxicity following radiation. We also have ongoing activity within functional MRI-based tumour segmentation approaches using machine learning.
