- MiMac's research is structured in 5 different Work Packages - 


WP1 - image

Atom Probe Tomography

WP1 - description toggler

Lead partner: NTNU-IMA
Partners: NGU; SINTEF; NTNU-IGP

NTNU-IMA has the  responsibility to 

  1. employ and develop internal competence, knowledge and experience in doing research on and running a 3D APT setup by using available labs abroad,
  2. purchase and install the 3D APT, and build up the necessary competence to operate and maintain the instrument, 
  3. establish user-friendly support system also for external users and
  4. further develop scientific competence and carry out cutting edge research on the instrument.

The experimental node is open for public use, including the partners.

WP 3 - image box

Mineral Analysis

Wp3 - toggler description

Lead partner: NGU 
Partners: NTNU; SINTEF

NGU has the resposibility to: 

  1. purchase and install the LA–SS–ICP–MS instrument, and build up the necessary competence to operate and maintain the instrument, 
  2. develop scientific competence and carry out research on the instrument

Coordination of the infrastructure

Partners: NGU; SINTEF; NTNU-IGP

NTNU-IMA has the responsibility for establishing the necessary supporting tools and mechanisms to ensure easy operation of the infrastructure components on a daily basis, and to establish a common strategy on how to expand the MiMaC laboratories.

AMS

WP2 - toggler description

Partners: NGU; SINTEF; NTNU-IMA 

NTNU-IGP has the responsibility to

  1. purchase and install two types of equipment, EPMA and AMS, and build up the necessary competence to operate the instruments, 
  2. offer access to the infrastructure to MiMaC partners and other relevant user groups, and 
  3. develop scientific competence and carry out cutting-edge research on these two instruments.

Material Analysis

Wp4 - toggler description

Lead partner: SINTEF  
Partners: NTNUNGU

SINTEF has  the responsibility to:

  • purchase a laser-ablation system and connect to existing ICP–MS instrument for material characterisation, and 
  • develop scientific competence and start doing research on the instrument; 
  • set up routine operation.
