Industrial catalysis

– Jia Yang

Jia Yang is associate professor in industrial catalysis in the Catalysis Group. She has been working in catalysis fields for about 10 years, and she has 24 scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals, 1 conference proceeding and 1 book chapter. Her main research interests include industrial catalysis, especially natural gas conversion; environmental catalysis with focus on methane abatement; photo catalysis for hydrogen production and CO2 fixation. She has strong expertise in kinetic and mechanistic investigation of reaction systems by isotopic labeling method.

The Catalysis group consists of five permanents faculty members, approximately 20 PhD students and 5-10 postdoctoral fellows. Since 2015, the Catalysis Group is heading a new Centre for Research-based Innovation: industrial Catalysis Science and Innovation (iCSI)  – for a competitive and sustainable process industry. The industrial partners are Dynea, Haldor Topsøe , Ineos, K.A.Rasmussen and Yara and the academic partners are NTNU, UiO and SINTEF.

The laboratory in the Catalysis group are fully equipped with instrumentations for catalyst preparation, regular and advanced characterizations ( BET, chemisorption, XRD, Raman, IR, TPX, TEM, XPS, EXAFS etc. ) and various types of testing reactors (fixed-bed, CSTR, autoclaves, microchannel and membrane reactors).
