The centre combines biometric authentication that can resist presentation, injection and deepfake attacks with cognitive approaches that help map user intent before and during authentication.

Focus areas

• Biometrics — presentation and injection attack detection, synthetic and multimodal biometrics, fairness and explainability.
• Socio-technical — Analysis of how technology, institutions and people shape opportunities for retail and digital banking fraud—and how those opportunities can be reduced.
• Cognitive — mapping intent before authentication to identify manipulation, uncertainty and coercion.

Research progresses from datasets and prototypes to testing, training and knowledge transfer that partners can use in real services.
