Working lives in transition
Working lives in transition
This project is funded by NTNU Energy Beyond the Fossil Fuel Era seed funding 2026
Norway’s energy transition is marked by a fundamental tension. Petroleum production continues to play a central role in national policy and commitments to Europe, while Norway is simultaneously committed to ambitious climate targets and the broader European transition away from fossil fuels. We aim to understand aim to explore whether such tensions generate value conflicts in workers’ everyday and professional lives, and how workers reflect on questions of identity, morality, and responsibility. We also explore the options for positive engagements in the transformation of the Norwegian energy sector.
Drawing attention to perspectives that remain comparatively underrepresented in public and scholarly debates on the energy transition, the project focuses on how transitioning workers’ narratives can be made visible and how this sector can be supported by relevant stakeholders within a changing energy landscape.
