Quantum Condensed Matter

Quantum Condensed Matter

The Quantum Condensed Matter section investigates the fundamental quantum principles and emergent properties of solid-state systems, and how they underpin both established devices and emerging quantum technologies.

Research areas

Center for Quantum Spintronics (QuSpin – SFF/CoE)

QuSpin is a Norwegian Center of Excellence (CoE) created in 2017. The principal goal of the center is to describe, characterize and develop recently identified quantum approaches to control electric signals in advanced nanoelectronics, conceptually different from those existing today.

Semiconductor-based quantum devices

We do theoretical research on solid-state quantum devices, including semiconductor spin qubits, superconducting qubits, (topologically) protected qubits, gate-tunable Josephson junctions, and superconducting diodes. Our long-term goal is the realization of disruptive quantum technologies such as fault-tolerant quantum computing and more accurate quantum sensing.
