About
About the course
Course content
The course provides an in-depth look at questions related to motivation, social interaction, and mental health in school, working life and leisure time. The topics are discussed in light of selected theories and relevant research. Particular emphasis will be placed on a health-promoting perspective.
Learning outcome
The course provides students with theoretical insight, research-based knowledge, and understanding of methodological approaches within the field. Through curriculum literature, lectures, and seminars with active participation and independent work, students should acquire insight into, and the ability to discuss, questions concerning:
- motivation and self-concept.
- how different social contexts, attitudes, stereotypes, and gender are related to learning, motivation, self-concept, and mental health.
The students should acquire skills in:
- discussing how theories can be applied in different contexts such as school, work, and spare time.
- analyzing different social contexts and learning environments, and reflect on potential improvements.
- thinking critically and reflecting on their own motivation, learning, and behavior.
Learning methods and activities
The teaching consists of lectures and seminars and is carried out in teaching modules. Normally, this means 3 modules/sessions, each consisting of 2 full days. In addition, there will be a writing seminar and student-active assignments.

- Attendance is compulsory for the oral presentations
Further on evaluation
The exam is a written semester report. Guidelines and requirements for the exam paper are given at the start of the semester. It is not permitted to generate an answer using artificial intelligence (Chat GPT or similar), and deliver it in whole or in part as a separate answer.
