Ergonomics

Ergonomics is about adapting the work environment and work techniques to people. When planning and carrying out the work, emphasis should be placed on preventing musculoskeletal disorders, and the individual conditions of the workers must be considered. The regulations of the Working Environment Act regarding the ergonomic work environment are intended to prevent workers from being exposed to adverse strains and injuries.

Psychosocial and organizational working environment

The Working Environment Act's provision on the psychosocial working environment is intended to prevent employees from being exposed to various negative conditions of a psychosocial nature, and that the sum of various stresses must not be too great. As with all other conditions, the law requires that the psychosocial working environment must be fully defensible.

Organizational work environment is about how work is organized and facilitated, and how the workplace is designed and furnished, for the work that the unit performs.

Violence and threats

At Sikresiden.no you can take courses on how to handle violent situations and threats. This is mandatory for all employees.

 

Violent Situations – Prevention and Management

 

  1. Complete a basic lesson on Acute and life-threatening violence (PLIVO) from sikresiden.no. The course requires no special prior knowledge.
  2. Watch a video about what you and others can do when faced with life-threatening violence. This short video provides practical skills for responding to life-threatening violence.
  3. Familiarize yourself with your surroundings. Here you will find a simple checklist that helps you assess your location from a security perspective.
  4. Learn first aid; your efforts can save lives.

 


Threats and Threatening Situations - Prevention and Management 

  1. Sikresiden’s guide to planning difficult conversations.
  2. Checklist for conflict-deescalating communication.
  3. Handling threatening situations.
  4. Psychosis  – how to recognize and handle individuals experiencing psychosis.
  5. Intoxication – how to recognize and handle individuals under the influence of drugs or alcohol.


Harassment

Examples of harassment include reprimand in the presence of others, making others invisible, concealing and withholding necessary information, ridicule, bullying, hurtful joking and teasing, and unwanted sexual attention.
Harassment is defined as bullying when the negative actions are systematic and repetitive.
