About the Foundation
- The Solberg Fund is a foundation at the Department of Electric Energy
- The capital originates from a donation made by the company NEBB in the 1950’s
- The activities in NEBB are today in companies like ABB, GE and Hitachi
- GE Vernova represents the donor in Board
- The purpose is to support teaching and research at our department “.. for the benefit of Norwegian electrotechnical industry”
- A board of 5 members are overlooking the foundation according to its rules and regulations. IEL has 3 board members
Both permanent and temporary scientific staff can apply for funding.
Criteria for support (from the Statues)
- New important research tasks for the Norwegian electrotechnical industry.
- Financing of important equipment and operating resources.
- Seminars, symposia and information activities on electrical engineering education and research.
- Scholarships for further education of MSc engineers.
- Scholarships for study trips abroad for scientific personnel at the Department of Electric Energy, with the purpose of creating international contracts and ensuring knowledge transfer to Norway. Such scholarships shall serve as additional support for the person concerned and must not have any influence whatsoever on the distribution of grants from the State for travel scholarships for NTNU teachers.
Examples of supported activities
- Research stay at foreign research institutions/universities. Scholarships support normally 75% of total costs limited to maximum 75 kNOK.
- Development of new international contacts/projects
- Hosting of symposia/conferences
- Laboratory equipment
