Norwegian Brain Initiative (NORBRAIN) – a large-scale infrastructure for 21st century neuroscience. NTNU is the host institution, with University of Oslo as partner.

  • Kavli Institute for Systems Neuroscience / Centre for Neural Computation (KI_CNC), NTNU
  • Medical Imaging Laboratory for Innovative Future Healthcare (MI-Lab), NTNU
  • Centre for Molecular Biology and Neuroscience (CMBN), UiO

NORBRAIN is a national infrastructure, and the objectives are to better understand the integrated functional systems of the brain and use this knowledge to develop new diagnostic tools and new treatment against neurological and neuropsychiatric disorders. In addition this large-scale national infrastructure allows neuroscientists, with different backgrounds, to use new generations of research tools, to provide insight into how complex mental functions and dysfunctions emerge from distributed neuronal activity in a local brain circuit.

NORBRAIN offer services to researchers from universities in Norway and other national users. NORBRAIN facilities are shared between University of Oslo and NTNU.
