International students are invited to attend a Welcome Session organized by the International Office from 09:00 to 10:00. During the session, important information about studying at NTNU will be provided, and you will have the opportunity to meet fellow international students before the start of the Orientation Week programme.
Welcome Ceremony for New Students at the NTNU School of International Business
Time: 10:00–11:30
Location: Fogdegården (Ankeret, 1 Floor)
Meet your fellow students and experience your first day as a student together with new friends. The NTNU School of International Business will hold a welcome ceremony from 10:00 to 11:30 for all new students in our bachelor's and master's programs. During this ceremony, the Head of Department will give a welcome speech, along with the four program coordinators. There will be registration, information about the orientation week, and assignment to buddy groups. You will also meet the buddy leaders, your buddies, and fellow students in your group.
- Attendance is mandatory.
- Lunch will be served.
Matriculation Ceremony for New Students at NTNU Ålesund
Time: 13:00–14:00
Location: Vrimla (Ankeret, 1 Floor)
Together with your buddy group, you will take part in this formal ceremony, which lasts for about one hour. There will be cultural performances, speeches, a parade, and you will get an insight into student life at NTNU Ålesund

Location: Kaupangen (Ankerert, 2 Floor)
On this day, you will receive useful information about your study program from the program coordinator, a warm welcome from the Head of Department, as well as important information about services offered by Sit, NTNU Accessibility Services, the Oracle Help Desk, and more.

Student Volunteering Day
Time: 10:00 –14:00
Location: Vrimla (Ankeret, 1 Floor)
Come and meet the student organizations and volunteer groups on campus! Many different student organizations will be present on campus to showcase the variety of activities, causes and organizations you can engage with at NTNU.
Representatives from certain services at NTNU and Sit, such as the Office of International Relations, will also be present.

During this meeting, you will receive important information about your study programme. You will also meet the Programme Director and the Student Advisers.

Company Visit to the Norwegian Maritime Competence Center
Time: 12:30 - 14:00
Location: NMK
Join a visit to the Norwegian Maritime Competence Center (NMK), where you will get a guided tour and meet several of the companies located at the center. Through an engaging group case challenge, you will gain insight into the business community in the Sunnmøre region and have the opportunity to get to know your fellow students.

International students who are required to register with the Norwegian authorities will attend a joint registration session at the local immigration office in Ålesund. Further information regarding attendance and required documentation will be provided by the International Office.
Discover the Ocean – Academic and Social Gathering at Atlanterhavsparken
Time: 12:00–15:00
Location: Atlanterhavsparken
On Friday, 14 August, students from the Master’s Programme in Management of Innovation and Sustainable Business Development and the Master’s Programme in International Business and Marketing are invited to an academic and social event at Atlanterhavsparken.
The programme includes a guided tour focusing on the park’s architecture, environmental footprint, and biodiversity, as well as a short film about marine ecosystems at Møre Ocean Lab. After lunch, students will take part in a shoreline expedition equipped with waders and field gear, contributing to voluntary environmental work while learning about coastal ecosystems. The day concludes with a feeding show and free time to explore the park.

Orientation week
During Orientation Week, you will get to know NTNU, Ålesund and other international students through a range of fun and informative activities. You will also receive practical information to help you get started in Norway and settle into student life at NTNU. The week is organized by International Office.
Orientation Week activities are coordinated with your department's Buddy Week programme, ensuring that students can take part in both. While Buddy Week is open to all new students, Orientation Week offers additional activities and information specifically tailored to international students.

NTNU has various part-time classes to help you learn Norwegian as a second language, including a free online course. You can also join a Norwegian course during the semester. However, please note that the application deadline was June 1. Exchange students may still participate if they missed the deadline, but the course will not qualify as Norwegian Level 2.
