Appliation form and deadlines

  1. International students fill in the online Preliminary application form by 1 December 2011. The online form will be available from October. See blue box on the right hand side.

  3. Engineering students (sivilingeniørstudenter) already enrolled at NTNU may choose Industrial Ecology as a specialization (hovedprofil) in their 3rd, 4th and 5th year, depending on the programme. Download application form. A specialization (hovedprofil) in industrial ecology requires the following courses:
    1. At least four industrial ecology courses (30 credits/studiepoeng), of which two av the four must be:

      - TVM4162 Industrial Ecology, and
      - TEP4223 LCA and Eco-efficiency,

      The remaining two courses to be selected from among:

      - TIØ4195 Environmental Mgt. and Corporate Responsibility
      - TEP4222 Input-Output Ananlysis, Trade and Environment
      - POL1003 Environmental Politics
      - TPD4145 Ecodesign
      - TVM4160 Material Flow Analysis
      - TEP4220 Energy and Envronmental Consequenes
    2. Project with an industrial ecology angle, in combination with one's own discipline/field;
    3. Master's thesis with an industrial ecology angle, while in combination with one's own discipline/field.

Admission requirements /opptakskrav

  • Schooling: Applicants must hold a BSc/BEng/BA degree within Engineering, Industrial Design, Architecture, Natural or Social Sciences, Economics or Business and Administration, or similar.
  • Prior knowledge of Mathematics and Statistics is strongly recommended for choosing the specialization Environmental Systems Analysis.
  • English proficiency: TOEFL 550/230 or IELTS 6.0 for non-native speakers of English. Norwegian applicants must fulfil the basic requirements in English language from the Norwegian Higher Secondary School.

The documents needed for the final application include a letter of motivation, one page in length, where the applicant answers the question: Why is the MSc in Industrial Ecology the right programme for me?

Tuition

Tuition is free. There is a small fee for the Student Wellfare Association, currently of NOK 450,- per semester. Non-EU/EEA/EFTA candidates must prove they can cover living expenses of currently NOK 90 800,- per academic year to obtain a residence permit for students. EU/EEA/EFTA citizens are exempt from this requirement.
