Welcome to start of studies at NTNU
Monday, August 11
Welcome Meeting for New Students at NTNU School of International Business
Time: 09:00–11:30
Location: Miljørommet (Kompasset, 1st floor), [Ålesund]
Meet your fellow students and experience your first day as a student together with new friends. The Department of International Business will hold a welcome ceremony from 09:00 to 11:00 for all new students in our bachelor's and master's programs. During this ceremony, the Head of Department will give a welcome speech, along with the four program coordinators. There will be registration, information about the orientation week, and assignment to buddy groups. You will also meet the buddy leaders, your buddies, and fellow students in your group.
- Attendance is mandatory.
- Lunch will be served.
Matriculation Ceremony for New Students at NTNU Ålesund
Time: 13:00–14:00
Location: Vrimla (Ankeret)
Together with your buddy group, you will take part in this formal ceremony, which lasts for about one hour. There will be cultural performances, speeches, a parade, and you will get an insight into student life at NTNU Ålesund
Tuesday, August 12
Information Meeting for Both Master's Programs
Time: 09:15–12:00
Location: Broa A and B (Kompasset, third floor)
On this day, you will receive useful information about your study program from the program coordinator, a warm welcome from the Head of Department, as well as important information about services offered by Sit, NTNU Accessibility Services, the Oracle Help Desk, and more.
- Attendance is mandatory.
- Lunch will be served.
Wednesday, August 13
Class Meeting for Master's in International Business and Marketing
Time: 10:00–12:00
Location: Broa A (Kompasset, third floor)
Here you will receive important information about your study program. You will meet the program coordinator and study advisors. Lunch will be served.

Company Visit to NMK
Time: 12:00–14:00
Location: NMK
Both master’s programs will visit the Norwegian Maritime Competence Center (NMK) to meet relevant partners of the department and learn more about the regional business environment in Ålesund and the surrounding area.
Thursday, August 14
Discover the Ocean – Academic and Social Gathering at Atlanterhavsparken
Time: 10:00–13:00
Location: Atlanterhavsparken
On Thursday, August 14, students from the master’s program in Management of Innovation and Sustainable Business Development and students from the master’s program in International Business and Marketing are invited to an academic and social day at Atlanterhavsparken. The day includes a guided tour focusing on the park’s architecture, environmental footprint, and biodiversity, as well as a short film about ocean ecosystems in the Møre Ocean Lab. After lunch, there will be a beach expedition with waders and equipment, where students will contribute to voluntary work for the ocean and learn about the coastal ecosystem. The day concludes with a feeding show and free time in the park.

Join Fadder week/ buddy week and meet new friends from the first day of studies! All new students can participate.

During the Orientation week, you will get to know NTNU, your city and other international students in fun ways, and learn everything you need to know to get started in Norway and settle in at NTNU. The Office of International Relations arranges the orientation week.
Many different student organizations will be present on campus to showcase the variety of activities, causes and organizations you can engage with at NTNU.
Representatives from certain services at NTNU and Sit, such as the Office of International Relations, will also be present.

NTNU has various part-time classes to help you learn Norwegian as a second language, including a free online course.
You can also join a Norwegian course during the semester. However, please note that the application deadline was June 1. Exchange students may still participate if they missed the deadline, but the course will not qualify as Norwegian Level 2.
