NTNU Flyer

Flyer is our working boat. It is a 27ft Polar Cirkel with a 200hp Suzuki engine. The boat has a seat with a console for the pilot on the starboard side and another seat with a console for multiple purposes. Its robust polyethylene construction, stability in the sea and a large working area on the bow, it is ideal for operations incl. deployment and recovery of marine equipment, towing devices, surveillance of assets underwater, subsea to land relay, etc. Since we got it, AURlab has adapted it for marine operations and the user can find the following equipment available on board

GPS anchor. Can be mounted in the bow and helps in keeping Flyer stationary at any given point, provided the weather conditions allow it.

Fishfinder. Allows the user to know the depth on-site and have a notion of whats under the boat.

Navigation chart plotter. Provides information like speed, GPS position, ETA.

Kongsberg Maritime Broadband Radio. 144fixed for wireless communications.

Autonomus Identification System for safety and other autonomy operations.

Side-pole. It is mounted towards the starboard aft for and equipment like USBL, echosounders etc. can be put and towed underwater at speeds under 3kn.

POWER

On board the user can find 12V, 24V and 36VDC and 230VAC from a 2kW inverter.

SAFETY

It is compulsory to wear an individual life vest on board. Other PPE like warm clothes, helmet etc is necessary depending on the conditions of the operation. Additionally, Flyer has floating ring. standard maritime instrumentation like AIS and VHF radio make it safer to navigate and keep it communicated.
